Founder, Siân Dorman, has a background in Textiles Design. Siân studied Textiles Design at The University of The Arts London (UAL): Chelsea College of Art and Design. Specialising in the pathway of 'stitch', and graduating with a 1st Class Hons BA in 2014.
in July of 2014, after graduating, Siân opened her first business 'Siân Dorman Creations', an independent costume design business where she produced sculptural wearable art pieces for all walks of creatives from actors, to dancers, models, musicians and performers. Siân made costume for many shows over the years including for Kraken Rum's Halloween event. She worked with Musicians, like Livia Rita, Belle Scar, Clapper Priest, dancers like Mai Nguyen Tri amongst others.
Along side managing her business, Siân worked part-time in various fields of Education for 7+ years, in Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Sixth Form Colleges, SEND Specialist Units and Adult Education.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Siân decided to make a new start by leaving her teaching job and going private. In October 2022, PLASTIQUE By Siân was born, and since, Siân has been running her own independent workshop experiences.

I first met Sian at the Mayor of London’s first-ever London Made Me pop-up shop last year. I instantly fell in love with her stunning, sustainably-made art and jewellery and snapped up the opportunity to take part in a workshop where I got to learn about how she utilises discarded plastic in her work and is preventing further landfill. With Sian’s guidance, I also got to learn how to make a pair of funky earrings using using a heat press! I’ve instantly become a fan of Plastique and since bought some artwork for my home and commissioned Sian for another piece - inspired by her Valentine’s Day card range! What’s great and unique is that Sian very much involved me in the creative process with the earrings and is doing the same with the artwork… it’s fun and really fulfilling to work on the pieces together! I absolutely love Sian’s inviting approach to making, her passion for the environment and her warm personality that makes you want to learn about each and every design - as there is a story behind them all!

Sian made a huge commission for me. I absolutely love the piece and everyone comments on it when they come round. The use of plastics and re-use and recycling is so clever and the end results are so stunning. Very exciting to see what Sian creates next! Brilliant workshop held by Sian, wide array of materials provided to work with! Explained and demonstrated well - such a lovely facilitator! It pushed me to be creative in ways I've never tried before and I absolutely love that it's all sustainable - it's inspiring seeing what you can create with scrap materials! I'm so glad I was able to attend, one of the best workshops I've done!
